special litter box

Hi, I am looking for a litter box that doesn't leak, I have 5 cats, 3 of which urinate by spraying almost straight up, I have a tall covered litter box (one of several I have tried) which comes in two pieces, top and bottom, the urine runs down the sides/back to the seam (where the pieces go together) and out on the floor. I cannot seem to find a box that has a lip on the upper or lower part that drains into the box, the lips all seem to be flat or turn down causing leakage, anyone have any ideas? I am presently making my own by cutting and fitting 2 storage containers inside each other (one right side up and the top up side down) if that makes sense, but would like to find something made for the purpose. I've seen cats do strange things but that's a new one.

If you cannot find the litter box your looking for you may want to put the box in another pan of some sort, like a dish pan or a cookie sheet in order to catch the urine and just rinse it off and wipe the box down a couple times a day.

 

look at littermaid pans - the rims are different than regular pans

 

for anyone else with the same problem, I found the perfect litter box at my local Albertsons grocery, quite by accident, its made by Pet Mate and the upper portion has an upside down U shapped edge which fits over the botton lip so far all kitty urine has drained into the box no more messy floor and the price was under $12, also nice. Guess sometimes the answer is "right next door" so to speak.
