Kitten Question!

Kitten Question!
I have a question that has been bothering me since I got my kitten 6 mos ago. He is totally spoiled and VERY affectionate. What I'm wondering about is that he tends to get overly affectionate. He always purrs and kneads me neck at night. He often drools while he's doing this (which is no problem...), but I often notice that he gets arounsed while he does this....Does anyone know if that is normal!? Thanks!

Not to worry about this happening, it is pretty normal. If you have not gotten him neutered yet, now is the time to do it. He may begin marking his territory, and you, if you delay much longer. Otherwise, I would not be concerned about the behaviour unless he begins being aggressive.
Check with your vet about being certain he is healthy urinary tract wise and all should be well, he will probably outgrow the arousal.
Hope this helps.

Re: Kitty Questions
It's funny, I did actually have him nuetered back in Aug (when he was 5 mos old, so he must be 8-9 mos now). Thanks for your reply! I haven't run into anyone who's cat does this. I guess he is just VERY affectionate! Thanks again!

I actually had a neutered male who would do the same thing when his belly was scratched/rubbed in a certain way, my vet told me often it is a spot that simply stimulates that reaction. It was a bit unnerving at first though.

Thanks!
Thanks for your answers, they are very helpful. I thought that it must be a normal reaction for him, it was just, like you said, unnerving at first! And he won't do it to my husband....just when he cuddles with me. He just gets carried away with the affection! I wouldn't pass up the drooling and kneading for anything. =)

Kittens knead their mothers while feeding to help the milk flow, and of course they drool. Kneading of you is an indication that the cat is happy and comfortable and is associated with such memories while with its mother. The cat may or may not outgrow the behavior.
