Huh ???????

Cat's are funny. They do what they want to do when they want to do it. I've got 1 cat "Simba" that's an indoor/outdoor cat and he happens to be king of the neighborhood. I've got a 2nd cat "Whiskers" who stays indoors all the time and is very laid back. When Simba is in the house it's best to avoid him unless he comes to you wanting petted. He's not so nice in the house. But if you come across him outside he's the nicest cat in the world. He just hates being in the house. So you could imagine going through a winter when he has to stay in. To add to matters Whiskers instigates him and they usually get into a catfight and the whole time I think Whiskers thinks it's funny.

OK 2 of my cats got in a big fight.my female cat trouble got in a fight with thom our male cat.I don't know who started it but there was screaming and my mom got scrached trying to pick one of the cats up. The fight was so bad that that ended up throwing a flashlight at the 2 cats to stop the fight and smacking the heck out of thom.I don't know if there was another cat outside and thom wanted to go after it or see and my female cat trouble got in the way and thom got mad or if it was the other way around.Or if my femail cat trouble was protectiong here babys and swatted at thom cause one of my female cats kittens is a female and he's always batting at her and trouble got mad.Either way this is the second time they got in a fight like this.Thom used to be an outdoor cat but after spending $500 on him to get fixed and meds cause he was attacked by a dog so we do not let him out any more.

A normally passivist animal will turn very aggresive when it thinks its babies are in harms way regardless of how good of friends they have been all their lives.

I would have to ask first off, are these cats spayed/neutered? From what I understood in your post, the female has kittens? and was possibly protecting them. If your male is not neutered, and your female does have kittens, keep the kittens away from the male. Male cats are known for killing kittens, when being aggressive. This is not a wives' tale, as I actually thought, as I have had it happen to me.

As for the fighting, I would sincerely suggest, if the cats are not altered, that you do that as soon as humanly possible as this is more than likely part of the problem with aggressions.

Since you do not mention the ages of either of the cats, I cannot guess as to what else may be the problem.

Cats will fight amongst themselves normally, to decide who is top cat, in the pecking order. This may be part of what is going on, but without having more history, cats ages and such, I can't begin to guess.

As for stopping them from fighting, you are right, water works best, as do vacumm cleaners...most cats will flip out and run away to hide if you turn on the vacumm cleaner.

Hope this helps...if I had more information, I might have more ideas.

Both cats are fixed now.The kittens were no where to be seen as they were all hidding.IM not sure how old thom is but trouble is about 3?years old.Thom has no front claws so he would fare worse in the fight cause trouble has all here claws.Thom is the dad of the kittens as he got to trouble.Im thinking there was another male cat outside and thats what started it.They got in a fight like that before over another cat outside.

Well since both cats are fixed, it may be simply a case of Thom getting riled because of another cat around or Trouble doing the same. I would suggest that you keep Troubles claws trimmed so that she does as little damage as possible, and now that Thom is fixed, do not let him outside. I know you mentioned he is now an indoor cat, but often cats who have been outside cats, do try to get back outside. This can be deadly for a declawed cat.

I think that this may be due to the cat outside, but, it is possible that, if the changing of Thom to an indoor cat was recent, it may also be partly the two trying to figure out who is top cat. This should eventually stop being a problem, though, it can take several months, and you may still have occasional spats between the two.

Also, dont' forget to get the kittens fixed as soon as possible, as them not being spayed/neutered, can cause more troubles all the way around.

Good luck and hope this helps.

They got into again and this time I got bit trying to pick thom up and ended up once again smacking the heck out of thom witch only makes things worse. It stoped it for about 30 seconds then they went under the kiction table and got into it again finally getting the spay bottle and squarting the heck out of both. We just can't keep the front door open at night. There back to being friends as trouble came up and kissed thom so they made up.But if this keeps up thom as got to go trouble was here first.Thom as been an indoor cat for about a few months now after he was fixed. The kittens are fixed now to.I know its wrong to hit animels but I was in a panic I did not want trouble hurt.
