pomeranian has ringworms
My pomeranian has ringworms. We shave our pom down. Is it becuase that we shave our pomeranian that she got these ringworms. My thinking was that sense she doesn't have her natural long thick hair it gave the ringworms better contact with the skin. I am just looking for all preventative measures so she doesn't get this again. Mayby it doesn't matter though. Thanks.

It is not due to shaving that your Pom gets ringworm. Ringworm is actually a fungus and is transmittable to people as well.
A trip to the vet is in order, to get the proper meds to treat the ringworm.
Check with your vet about possible ways your dog may have gotten this infection. Also, be sure to check yourself for small round red scaly spots, as this is usually how ringworm manifests on people. You can treat people with over the counter meds, just ask your pharmacist, but DO NOT treat your dog with these things as most of them are toxic and can possibly kill your dog.
Hope this helps.

We did take here in and that is how we not that she has ringworms. We have all the medication needed also. I was just wondering if shaving her made her more susceptible to getting the ringworms. Perhaps shaving gives the ringworms better contact with the skin and/or perhaps shaving excoriates the skin some where the ringworms can infect. Thanks
