Walking Boston Terrier in Dead of Winter

I'm getting a 12-week-old BT in January. January and February are the coldest times of the year and living in Grand Junction Colorado, the sidewalks are pretty cold. Not sure how to and how long to walk the puppy when it is so cold. Any ideas?

BTW, doctor says I could use a few walks myself...

Pick up some books on the Boston Terrier at the local library or search online for characteristics of your breed. Boston Terriers do not tolerate excessive heat or cold, so they are indoor dogs. When weather turns chilly in the fall, they need a sweater or coat to stay warm when outdoors. Snow suits are recommended if there is snow on the ground. You can find pet wear at local pet stores and online.

Boots help quite a bit. We bought ones that had velcro straps, but I saw some that had more of a draw-string design that I think would have worked better.
