Cat Odor
I have a male cat that is over 8 years old. In the past year, he has developed a putrid body odor. Wherever he sits or lays, he permiates that spot. I can no longer handle this. Some people tell me it is his food. I changed that, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

How long ago did you change the diet? It could take several weeks for any diet changes to really kick in. If it came on suddenly, it could be indicative to a health issue. I'd take him to the vet to get checked out if he hasn't been there in a while.

Odor may be indicative of an underlying health issues such as feline diabetes which is associated with odor. A check up with the vet is in order.

There is a skin disorder in cats called seborrhea that causes a body odor. It can often be controlled with shampoo but might need an antibiotic. Your cat should see a vet for diagnosis. It could even be an ear infection or an anal gland problem.

Cat odor
Thank you all for your sound advice regarding my cat's odor. I realize that he needs to go to the vet. I strongly suspect a health issue with him.
