Puppy Training: "Come" Command Backslide

Puppy Training: "Come" Command Backslide
It's a 5 month old male Springer Spaniel
I haven't been doing to much training, just some of the basic important ones (as he's still a youngster)
Sit, Off, Come...
Well, he was pretty good about them
Lately he's been ignoring the "Come" command
Not that he's running away or anything
But he'll just ignore it and lie down...sometimes he'll roll over and lie on his back wiggling his tail
Of course, if I am, or other family members are, off to work or something we can't really take the time to mess with this, so we can end up picking him up and carrying him
Which is, I suspect, what he has discovered, and it may have now have become a game
I was hoping to start more intensive training at this time
But I think I need some good advice on this little backslide first
What's the best way to get my puppy back on track?
Thank you

I would go back to basics and use a long lead to reinforce that come means come and not lay down or ignore me. This site can explain it better then I can.

Dogs, like children, tend to backslide. Education and training must be ongoing. Do not despair. You might also want to investigate to see if someone nearby offers dog obedience classes. Believe me, these are more for the dog owners than the dogs. Both become trained.

It has been an issue to insure that others in the family use the same commands and techniques with consistency
Not a major issue with this family (I've seen much, much, worse), but even so...
