Cats can be strange

Isn't is funny how (at least with my cats), they are beyond fastidious when it comes to licking themselves. However, they never get rid of their eye crud.

All cats produce a discharge beneath eyes after a long night's sleep. Some breeds produce more than others, such as Himalayans and Persians. Orange cats have a pigment in tears and discharge can be dark. You can remove deposits with a damp tissue. If you feel discharge is excessive, have cats checked for eye infection.

Also be aware that if it is not clear, but more opaque/white looking, you probably have a kitty with an infection of some sort and they should be seen by your vet ASAP.
