Cat in heat

I have a 3 1/2 4 year old female cat. She doesn't go out, and you can't take her out, so we never had her fixed. She would go into heat 2 or 3 times a year. Last summer my daughter let the neighbors cat in the house, she said they wanted to play. They played all right, we ended up having kittens. Since she has had the kittens, it seems like she is in heat like every 45 days, is this normal.

What wasn't normal was the 2 or 3 times a year. Possibly because she had never been around other cats (if thats a truism)? We adopted a kitten from the SPCA and she went in heat at about 2 1/2 months...1 week on, 2 1/2 weeks (or so) off. That lasted til the vet said she was old enough to spay

What you state is still a little longer than normal between cycles.

From this site...Cats Estrus Cycles - Heat Cycles in Cats

"Heat cycles in cats last from several days to two weeks or longer, and repeat every two to three weeks."

that is very unusual. i would just get your cat fixed, if you feel like it's hard to deal with or if your cat may be suffering. you don't want another incident happening like that!
