Snake Experts Needed

Does anyone of you experts know what snake this is?
I am guessing Gray Rat Snake, but not sure.

Actually, based on the picture in that article, I'm even less convinced because the head is a different shape than the one in your pic.

Is it a pet/exotic snake or something indigenous to where you live? I live in NC and use the Herps of NC website to identify the types of snakes we have here.
