racefan,

The biggest difference between memory cards is data transfer speed.
For your purposes you will notice little difference in how long it takes to write a 3 mp picture to the card.
It does make a bit of a difference with cameras in the 8 mp range but you would do well to invest the money you would spend on a faster card and get a larger capacity one instead.

racefan,

I have no experience with refurbished flash memory.

Memory cards are something that I personally would not go cheap on.
My pictures are important to me and I want to try to minimize the chance of loosing any.
Name brands that do well in reviews is what I try to use.
