i have a HP 812 dig. camera and was wondering if it would support a 1 or 2 gig. SD card?

VC-Racing,

According to Steve's Camera Reviews your cam will only support a 256 meg card.

Ya, tell me about it.
The $200.00CDN 1gb compact flash card I bought a year and a half ago is now $80.00!

If you are going to invest in several cards....would it be an option to get a cheap, newer camera that supports bigger cards? Switching out cards is a pain...

no actually the cards online are like $10-15 now. and if i look real close i have seen them for less. as far as replacing my camera, i will later on, but this HP 812 i have does a super job and i like the versitility of it.

Here is another angle you can explore on this.

Even though the mfr says your model can only support a given size I have heard a claim that a larger card might work.
If you could borrow a card you could try it.
You may have to reformat the card in your camera.

You can also check to see if your camera has the latest firmware.
I read the latest offering will correct some image related probs but didn't read the whole thing to see if it will open up your camera to take a larger card.

Check it out:
