Luv my digital camera

Yesterday my wife picked up a new grill that I had purchased. A store employee loaded it in the back of her Honda Pilot. When she got home I noticed that the grill box was loaded sideways. When I pulled the grill out we saw that thecarpet and folded down seats had been torn in several places from sharp edged pieces that had punched holes in the box.

I returned to the store today and met with the manager. I explained what happened and told him I expected the store to pay for the repairs. He was not happy. He looked at the damage and called in the kid that loaded the car. I explained to the kid that he had loaded it wrong and becasuse of that it had damaged the car. The zit faced, mullet haired little punk looked me right in the eye and said "I loaded it the right way, the carpet was already torn when I put it in the car." That's when I pulled out the digital photos showing the damage. The manager fired him on the spot and asked for an estimate.

That does hurt. You will have to take it to the dealership to get the reupholstering done.

Yikes. And I love mine, too. I carry it in the wrecker with me and anytime I get a feeling there might be questions about existing damage, I take a shot. Also always take shots of people I'm winching out of places they've managed to get stuck.

I got an estimate from the dealer today. $610 P&L. Less than I expected. The carpeted seat backs are actually modular so the labor cost was less than I expected.

Tow Guy - I've been towed out of a couple of embarrassing spots (high centered in a Bronco once and a snow spin out once). I'm glad digital camers didn't exist then. I had a winch in the front of the Bronco and a come along in the trunk just for that purpose. I got stuck in the middle of a national forest - with the nearest tree about 20' past my combined winch/come along. Probably the only clearing within 10 miles. The guy that towed me thought it was pretty funny.
