Will an XD chip fit in an SD camera?

Greetings,

I am thinking of buying a Nikon coolpix camera, which has an SD chip inside it. My previous camera uses an XD chip. I presume they are not interchangeable, but hope springs eternal!

But be careful buying SD cards. There is SD, then there's SDHD in higher MB rating and they won't work in your camera. Stick with SD. And as GG says, they're super cheap.

Any tips for affordable digital with good LCD and fast shutter?

Good point about the affordability of the SDs! Its just a bummer to mothball a perfectly good xD, that's all.

Since i asked this question, I've dropped the idea of getting a Nikon coolpix, since the model I tested at the store is rather slow to take a pic and nearly all of them came out blurry.

So, I'm searching for an affordable (pref. less than $200) with a large display window and also reasonably quick shutter.

I appreciate your suggestions!

I use the Konica/Minolta Dimage. Easy on batteries, large view area, great pictures, AP, SP, Auto, Movies, Back light adjustment. Probably can be had for around $200 or so.
