Power Steering Pump
I just finished replacing the power steering pump in my 89 GMC Truck, the old pump started whining and the fluid would pour out the top of the reservoir,somebody told me the bearings were bad and were boiling the fluid, is this true?
I am still gettig a whine from the new pump but it seems to be working I have power steering back.Could the belt be too tight too loose, should I worry about the whine?

The wine could be from a power steering belt. Check with the manual for you vehicle to see how much your belt should deflect. It is impossible to tell what caused a part to fail with out tearing it down and checking the condition and ware of internal parts. I would be wary of any diagnosis like that, but having said that it seem plausible that was your problem. I would lubricate everything, adjust you belt to manufactures spec’s and see if you still have a wine.
