could be a bad starter try tapping on the starter with a hammer to see if it will crank over.
can use a testlight to check for power at the small terminal on the starter solenoid should have power when key is in cranking position.if no power may be an ignition switch or nuetral safety switch problem have you tried starting it in nuetral, or a clutch safety switch on a standard transmission.

Tapping a modern technolpgy starter with a hammer is a bad idea. Try the butt end of a plastic handled screwdriver. You will note that starters are a lot smaller than they use to be. That is because the internal magnets are made of ceramic material that is much smaller than the old ferrite type. Unfornunately, ceramics are brittle like glass and can be shattered by a hammer blow. The older ferrite magnets were a plasticized material like refrigerator magnets and could handle a hammer blow with no damage.

Something else to consider is the positive battery terminal. If you have the 2 piece terminal end with two separate leads then you could easily have corrosion biult up inside the terminal and hindering the flow of current. This is a common thing on this vintage vehicle and will act just like a dead battery or starter problem.
Hope this helps ya,
Billy
