how do recalls work?

I have F150 5 spd manual trans, 2wd, 6 cyl engine, super cab, short bed, bought second hand from dealer in May 00. I looked on Alldata and found a list of recalls that apparently took place after I bought the truck. I imagine that some information does not transfer when a truck is sold.

Are these recalls good for subsequent owners? How do I get in on them? Is there a way to learn if recalls than antedated my ownership were followed on the truck?

Both fuel pumps are fading. What a chore I have facing me on that.

I do believe they are good for the current owner, the experts should be along soon.
Call your dealer give them your VIN and ask them which recalls apply to your truck.

Try the auto forum if you don't get a reply in this one.

it can vary depending alot on the type of recall usually any recall that compromises the safety of the vehicle will be covered regardless of current ownership.
recalls related to emissions will likely be limited to so many years and mileage per example 10 years or 100,000 miles but this varys from different manufacturers and you would need to contact the dealer with your vin and mileage to see what recalls would still be covered.
some recalls are only applicable if the problem arises and may only be covered within the original manufacturers basic warranty.
