tires and gas milage

i have a 96 1500 gmc pu 305 2wd. i was wondering how tire size affects gas mileage. the tires on my truck are 1 size taller and 1 size wider than stock and are all terrain due to living in rural south ga. i was wondering how if i change them this will affect mileage. also does anyone have advice on improving my mpg i am currently getting 15 mpg. i dont due jack rabbit accelerations and i dont pull trailers just cant figure this out.
thank you
rusty

well sounds like your in the same boat i am..bigger tires will affect youre gas milage..because it takes more torque to turn and they cover more surface..besides if i was getting 15 mpg i would be so happy.i get maybe 5 mpg..77 ford 3/4 ton with a 351modified with over size tires
