check engine light

my 1996 chevy 1500 5.7L V8 VORTEC, check engine light is on. I had it scan and bank 1 and bank 2 o2 sensor come up as lean reading. How can I solve that?

I would check the fuel pressure, clean the mass air flow sensor (with brake clean)and check for intake manifold leaks because they have been known to suck air.Check the fuel pressure driving on the road and up hills.Simply tape the gauge to the windshield so you can see it.

Davo beat me to it, but to add to what he said... The best way to get a proper diagnosis is to give us the P codes. Im betting you have a P0171 and a P0174 code and as Davo said look for vacuum leaks. Have you had any other problems or concerns with the truck besides the light? Have you had the intake gaskets replaced? These were known to leak, mostly coolant, but this may be the beginning.
Hope this is helpful to ya,
Billy

I have a 1996 Chevy W/T with the 4.3V6 and my engine light comes on once in awhile, sometimes for days at a time but of course never when it needs to be checked.

The last owner told me that it has been doing that almost since he bought it.
