Transmission Cooler

What do you think about transmission coolers? Should I get one? Are they easy to install?

I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan EX 6 cyl. engine (I forget what engine size) and we are planning on towing a 2000lb pop-up camper about 1700 miles in June. These vans don't have a great track record with tranny's so I want to do what I can to prevent serious problems.

Thanks

I installed one on my 2002 F-350. I tow a 13,500 fiver into the Sierras. It dropped my tranny temp from a dangerous 220+ on one particular slow winding road, to under 190. I wouldn't leave home without it.

I got mine at dieselsite.com. It's a Tru-Cool Max. It came with almost everything I needed to install. For the way I wanted to install, I did have to buy a small length of hose, a inline coupler, and 4 longer bolts. Total installation time was about 1 hour.
