1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Steering

I know from asking around that these trucks have excessive play after a while. My truck probably has less than others, but still more than I like. I`ve got 100,000 miles, the steering box is a remanufacture, and leaking. I also found out the lower steering shaft could also cause it. How can you tell which is the problem?

first start by checking Front end tie rodes Ball Joints idelers for play hthan have some one move the steering wheel back and forth just to take up the play while you watch the pitman arm if play in wheel is excessave and no movement in the piman than more than likely you should rebuild the box but first check the ujoints in the columblinkage to make sure thay are ok
