Brakes

I have a 1986 Dodge Ram truck and the brakes made a grinding sound when I put on brakes. I checked the front disc brake pads and it has a lot of lining on them. What would cause this grinding sound?

Have you checked both sides? A worn caliper or collasping brake hose can cause one side to wear faster than the other. Ocasionally the brakes can pick up something and drag it along for a while. Check the back brakes also, sometimes sounds don't come from where you think they do.
