ford f150 ignition

hey, i own a 2004 ford f-150 5.4L triton automatic, over the last 4 months or so, every now and then it starts really poorly, like it will kinda turnover, not really, like you cant really hear the engine running but it kind of is i think then i turn it off and it will start fine, it also has really bad gas mileage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a bad coil pack or more than one. How many miles on it? Also, change the fuel filter.

fuel pump

sounds like a bad fuel pump because of the fact that you say that you turn the ign off then restart , what your doing is building up fuel pressure , thus helping it start , hook a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail test port and see what fuel pressure is when u first try to start the truck ,
