Need help with an annoying heater problem. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT Control Trac and the heater temp is stuck on high. No matter what position I put the thermostat in it blows out HOT air. Even if I put it on regular AC it blows hot, but if I switch it to Max AC I get cold air. Any suggestons or help would be appreciated.
Thanks

same problem here...
MY 97 Explorer has the same problem and it's not a task that I am willing or able to do on my own. I'm told the dash assembly has to come off in order to replace a mixer box of some kind. The dealer I went to quoted me $1200 and a two-day job.

There are a lot of threads related to this problem on www.automotiveforums.com if you search on Ford for "heater stuck".
