1993 Ford Ranger no spark to plugs
I have a 93 ford ranger 4cly 2WD. Driving home today the truck suddenly quit running. I pulled off the side of the road and the it wouldn't restart. All of the electrical systems, lights, stereo worked.
I had it towed to my house. The starter engages and the engine turns over. I checked a plug and it was getting no spark when the key was turned. I checked the distributorless electronic iginition with an ohm meter and it was reading = " 0 ". One of the manuals said they should read 5.0 ohms or less. I took it off and replaced both with new parts and I added new spark plug wires at the same time. Needless to say the truck still wouldn't start. I've since checked all the fuses and they are fine.
Then I checked the new parts with my ohm meter and they read a " 0 " as well. I also took out a plug and had my wife crank the car and there was no spark to the plug and it wouldn't arc to the frame or the block. Are the new parts defective or is there another inline fuse somewhere I can check. Also there appears to be a capicitor mounted to the front distributor, although I can find no information on this part.
