Draining Hot Water Heater in RV

Does anyone know how to drain the water from an Atwood Hot Water Heater? We have a 2005 Forest River Surveyor Travel Trailer, and we are not sure where the drain valve is to empty the hot water heater. The owner's manual does not show it on the diagram, and we don't want to mess with the wrong thing!

Should be a 7/8" hex head nylon/teflon plug below your gas valve assy. Possibility of metal drain plug, if changed, or anode installed. It will be the lowest plug you see, which only makes sense right? Shut water supply or pump off . Be sure to let it cool a bit, (if hot) and turn hot tap on in trailer to relieve any pressure first, then close, or your likely to get a small shower when removing plug. If your comfortable using your pressure relief valve to do same, go ahead. Just pull up on little lever at end of pressure relief valve, to position it in straight out direction, that will spurt water out & relieve pressure also. Then close valve, remove plug. If you want to speed up draining, open pressure relief valve again, to allow air in for faster draining. If problems, let us know.

Good Luck, Mike.B
