Radio noise
1994 Toyota standard pickup, 4 cyl, engine is 22(something) I think.
Lately, any radio station which has marginal signal develops a tremendous static, which gets louder and increases in frequency as engine is revved etc.
Is this the radio, or something I can fix in the ignition?
Thanks for any help!

might start with new plug wires and spark plugs but it could be coming from the alternater also.

I agree with Bejay. Bad plug wires will interfer with radio among other things. If that does not fix it, check your ground wires for the radio.

Thank you so much for the help! These plug wires, if not the originals, are certainly pretty old, so I will go for that and let you know how it works.

Done deal!
I picked up some good wires, and in the process of changing them out, found that on one plug, the whole end of the plug ( the metal connector) was snapped off. It is still inside the wire connector. I don't think I broke it. I suspect it was accidentally broken about 3 weeks ago at the shop where I had the exhause manifold replaced. ( It had a broken bolt, and was warped). The radio noise started right about that time.
Any way, new plugs and new wires....problem solved!
I really appreciate the advice available on these forums.
