2005 Toyota Tacoma transmission fluid

I accidently drained some transmission fluid when changing my oil.
Can anyone tell me what kind of fluid this takes and can I add it through the dipstick opening.
It is an automatic transmission on a 4cyl. 2.7L engine.
Some other sights have stated that it is a special Toyota Fluid and that the entire pan has to be dropped and all the fluid changed.
I find this hard to believe.
Please help A S A P as I need the vehicle.

Toyota takes a specific fluid. You can use Toyota type T4 or T6. You will have to get this from the dealer and it's recommended. Do not use a generic ATF in this vehicle.

You should have your tranny drained and filled with new every 30-40k miles. This does require dropping the pan. You drop the pan so you can clean off the magnets that are there. These magnets pick up metal shavings. It's is normal practice to drop the pan.

And yes, you add it through the dipstick.
