Unhappy 95 GMC 1/2T Clutch good or bad?

HEY Folks! new to the forum and have had some experience in the older trucks...But I am having a problem with my clutch, I am afraid. It is hard to get into gear and dam near impossiple to put in reverse. I was told if I could put it in second and set parking brake i had a good clutch if it died imediately...it does...any suggestions of determining a bad clutch or throw out bearing etc without dropping tranny?? Any help is appreciated!!!!
