emergency brake
I have a 92 f150 5.0 5 speed with a 6 inch lift. The problem is the emergency brake feels spongy when I push it down and won't stay down. I pull on the brake release and there is no resistance or "pop" of the brake releasing but the truck has no power at all, so I thought the brake might be stuck on. Maybe the cable is broken. What should I look for, and where? I'm kinda new to doing my own repairs so don't think something is too obvious to mention.
Thanks!
Thanks!

There is either a slot in the drum or back plate of the wheel housing. If it's in the drum, rotate the drum so the slot is at the bottom. There is a special brake adjusting tool but a slot head screw driver will work. There is a little metal 'star' wheel that adjusts the brake. You have to turn this wheel to loosen the brake shoes.
E-brake cable [from cab] is a single cable that goes to a screw type bolt fitting where it splits off into 2 cables. It should be [where it splits] approx at the back of cab [front of bed] underneath. Tension can be released by loosening the nut on this connector.
