the spark plug literally blew out of the head on cylinder#7, it broke the coil pack to. when i tried to screw it back in it acts as if the head is stripped . I can get to it fairly easy , i want to rethread it myself... is this a mistake or should i take it to a ford dealership?

Air Nailer,
That's really something best left to the dealership.
Now, I'm involved with a fleet of over 5000 vehicles. We have ASE certified mechanics and it is still preferred to send them to the dealer.

They will bore the area out, rethread it and insert a helicoil (I'm not sure of the spelling). Then the dealership has to warranty that work for 1 year. I am not an advocate for having dealerships work on vehicles. They're too high and will attempt to "sell you up" claiming you need this or that. When you go in be sure and tell them to do that and only that. You'll still get a list of "things that really should be done".
