wheres egr valve on 86 yoda truck?

just bought this truck and old owner says it needs new egr valve, very pricey not sure were it is. i am sure it guzzles the gas with a bad egr
its a 86 toyota truck with a 4 cyl. 22r engine.
please help

Be sure you remove and clean the valve and check for vacuum hose leaks before you condemn the valve. Very often EGR problems are associated items and not the egr valve itself.

Rear of engine right at the end of the intake manifold(passenger side). It's a pancake looking affair, about three inches in diameter, with a vacuum line running to it.

thanks guys, i found it , replaced and runs a little better

what are the "associated" parts you were talking about cause it still runs a little rough, dont know about the gas milage yet, thanks chris

Other things to look at on that particular engine are the timing chain guides and the tensioner.

Pull the valve cover and look down the timing chain at the front of the engine. You'll be able to see those things. If worn out or broken you'll have to think about replacing them.
