30 mile reset period ?

I just changed the speed senser in my 98 dodge truck. My mechanic turned off the check engine light but the abs light, the brake light in the dash are still on and the speedometer still does not work. My friend told me it will take 30 miles to reset everything. Since I have never heard of this, I thought I would ask an expert. Thank you.

you might want to get another opinion if the speed sensor was replaced due to a non functioning speedometer the speedometer should be working as soon as the work is done.
the abs and brake light may not even be related but if it is it may need the codes cleared on the abs computer also but suspect that something else may be wrong causing those lights.

Sounds like a electrical problem. Inspect your alternator and battery cables very carefully.

If the cables look fine, you may have a bad PCM (powertrain module).
