Smile Noise interference

Have a 77GM truck 250 inline 6 standard head. What filter or capacitor may I install to eliminate whine and noises that interfer with stereo and cell phone? The radio has two power sources, nevertheless, am trying to eliminate interference from entire electrical system. Thanks for your time and help all is appreciated.

Generally the alternator is the culprit that generates the whine. It's a high frequency electrical noise that is usually filtered within the alternator. Sometimes the internal filter can fail, or not be sufficient. Some parts stores still sell an alternator noise filter that installs on the alternator output to cancel this electrical noise. It's an easy install.
