Smile 1989 jayco pop-up

I have an 1989 Jayco pop-up and the lift system just broke. I can't get it to go up or down right now it is stuck about half way up. The hitch end of the roof will move iit's the rear that won't move. This happened about two years ago except it would.t go up on the rear. I took it to a jayco dealership and it cost me 400.00 to have it fixed. I would like to know how hard it is to fix myself if this is going to happen very often. Thecamper is in excellent shape otherwise.

If you can get it up safely onto four safety stands, and get under and have a look, you'll probably see where your problem is. See what you find, and let us know.

cables

Are the cables routed under the camper or are the inside because I really don't really see any on the underneith side.

Normally under, but perhaps you have a vinyl underbelly, or sheet metal covering everything? I'd start from the crank where you normally crank it up, and snoop around there. If the crank handle is inserted below your main floor level, the mechanism & cables are probably under the trailer. It's been awhile since I worked on a hardtop, but most I did, were under. If the handle is inserted above the floor level, start by moving things inside where the handle is inserted.

lift system info needed

Please share with me any information you learned from this - as I have a similar problem, although my cable broke.
