Van will not start unless throttle is held wide open,there is a smell of gas as though it is flooded, Is the ECM bad, or is it somethig else

Sounds like your fuel "spider" has failed. That CMFI fuel system worked well...when it worked. unfortunately the failure rate on the injector itself as well as the fuel lines where they enter the manifold were pretty high. Probably should have it scanned to make sure it's not a shorted coolant sensor. You could pull the upper intake plenum but that's kind of a drag on a astro...but if either of the aformentioned items has failed, you'll be able to see it when you turn the key on...do NOT attempt to start the engine with the plenum removed and be careful of fuel spray.
