2002 F350 Super Duty AC cooling intermittent
Hello,
2002 F350 Deisel pick up Cools intermittently. nice and cool when cooling, hot air when not. Compressor turns off.
Pressures are within target range when cooling, 40/230-248.
I have suspected orifice tube, dryer, or clutch. and of course
pressure switches. But have not been able to duplicate compressor turning off when working on the truck. Any suggestions?
Ted

When is it not cooling? When you come to a stop..or.....?
Often times, the A/C will be operating correctly, but just the vehicle might be overheating, causing the A/C system to shut of temporarily in order to bring engine temp back down.
If you see no signs of engine overtemp, I would start by replacing the pressure switches, seeing it's usually the cheapest and easiest part.

Hi, I work at a ford dealer. 2 probable problems. If the compressor stops working after a while, tap/hit the front clutch on the compressor. if that kicks it on replace the clutch. also they are known for the desecant bag in the drier coming apart. remove the orafice tube and inspect it for debris.
