My truck shuts off while in idle and it sounds like the engine is going to die at any time. It has a little less than 300000 miles on it but its never been used for heavy construction. My sis's boyfriend says he thinks its something to do with the throttle body. Any idea?

In order to keep it from shutting off when i stop or switch from drive/reverse. I have to press the brake and the gas must idle at at least .5 RPMs. While driving, the motor spits and sputters the whole way. It feels like there is some kind of drag when I accelerate, or go uphill at all. I know its a gas hhhooggg to begin with, but its drinkin through gas like there's no tomorrow.
