1987 K-5 Blazer
Hello all, I haven't posted here in a while. I still have my K-5 and it's giving me a bit of a fit.
When I hit the brakes, sometimes it develops a horrible wobble. Is it a warped rotor?
It doesn't wobble too bad going down the road, just when I hit the brakes. This started recently.
Thanks in advance.

Does sound like a warped rotor. Could have happened with the brakes hot and driving immediately into a water puddle. Most local shops can tell if it is warped without having to do alot of tear down.

Hmmm..gotta disagree..if it "wobbles" at all w/o the brakes applied, its not the rotors. I'd check rims and tires..then steering componants.
Warped rotors normally will "thump thump" and you will feel it in the pedal.
No mechanic..just an opinion.

Thank you chandler. I do most of my own mechanic work, so I will probably tear it down this week and check it out. I did want a second opinion though.
Thanks Gunguy45, good point.

TG, I was going by what he said about hitting the brakes and it wobbling (vibrating). I had one and felt the vibration slightly even with the brakes released, I guess since the pads are so close to the rotor.

Good call, I failed to mention that I replaced the inside bearings as well. They were trashed.
