Dodge Ram Water Pump leak

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.2L engine. The water pump failed so I purchased a new one from a local auto parts store. I installed it and after a couple of days it started to leak. I thought I may have messed up the gasket so I bought a new gasket and reinstalled the pump. After a few days it began to leak!!

I checked all the bolts and the leak seems to be coming from the pump pully , but it's hard to tell. Could the new pump be bad? Any other suggestions? The leak seems to go away after the truck gets to operating temp.

Mike, yes the new pump is probably a rebuild and not really "new", and could be bad as well. The leak is probably coming from the weep hole which is on the dry side of the bearing. While it is fairly new, exchange it.

2000 Dakota 4.7 L misses

Greetings. I have a 2000 Dakota 4.7L. 161K miles. Until recently, no problems. It started as a very periodic miss, mostly when I just eased off the accelerator, but it died twice over 6 weeks when I came to a complete stop. Now it is missing more often (has not died any more, though) and when idling, periodically runs rough (changes speed actually). I am not sure when the plugs were last changed, will start there along with a good fuel system cleaner. Any other ideas? There is no check engine light and no codes (I hooked up the scanner and it came back clean). Thanks, Dave

Have a 1969 Ford F-250 with a 390 ci, 4 bbl crab,point dist, auto trans and no smog components. When driving at about 60-70mph up a slight grade the engine will ping . Using 91 gas and set the timing at 4 degrees btdc still noticeably pinging.. Going up the same grade at 40-50mph no noticeably pinging . Love the truck ,hate the ping . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks Joseph:mad:
