Driver's door lock stuck in locked position

Here's a frustrating on that I sure could use help on. I have a Dodge Ram pickup with a power door lock problem and will do my best to describe it.

The driver's door will not unlock using either the fob or the interior switch, locks on all three other doors operate fine.

The lock knob will not pull up and is stuck in the down position.

Putting the key in the door will unlock the door but only with great force, apparently only enough to unlock the door as the knob raises only slightly. The knob stays down.

The only way the door opens "normally" is from the inside door handle. Pulling on the handle will open the door but does not raise the lock knob.

I removed the door panel and I do not see anything binding although I could not see all of the rods.

Does this description point to anything obvious?

Ok....

Remove the door panel and follow the rod for the Knob.....

It will either go straight down to the latch, or there will be a "SWIVEL" that fits into the door "SKIN"....If you have a swivel...make sure it hasnt popped off of the door.....It will make sense when you see it.....

If not......The latch is Jamming and must be replaced....

Get in the truck, close the doors and windows...make sure the key is OUT of the ignition....Operate the Key fob...and listen to the door...any Noises???? Then try the lock button on the door.....

I had the door panel off the other day and I believe the lock knob rod goes straight down to the latch.
Getting in the truck, no noises from the driver's door using either the fob or door lock switch.

With the door opened close the latch assy and depress the interior lamp switch as some vehicles use that signal to know if the door is closed. Activate the system and the problem will be obvious. Of course the test is done with the panel removed so you can see what is happening.

As it turned out, the latch assembly needed to be replaced as the power lock portion had stopped working. I replaced it, probably saving a couple hundred in dealer labor. Works great now... thanks.
