Unhappy Camper lights wont run when plugged into electric

We have a 2003 Coleman pop up Santa Fe with a World Friendship Co. Power Converter. When we are plugged into electric the outlets in the camper work but the lights do not. Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

We only realized this when we went camping this season and our auxillary battery was drained even though we were connected to electric. When we disconnect the battery and tried the lights they do not work. BUT if we plug a lamp into an outlet, the outlet is working fine.

Without knowing anything about your system, it sounds like a relay is supposed to switch the lamp circuits from 12v power to 120, when it senses 120 volts. It's going to take some electrical troubleshooting to find the exact problem.

Check your circuit breakers which should be in a switch box where the power cord enters your trailer. If your battery went down your converter is not getting any power. The converter charges the battery and also provides 12 volt power when you are plugged into 120volts. Check the breakers first and they are not tripped check for a blown fuse in the converter.

Had a similar problem with my neighbors 5th wheel. Turned out a "auto-reset" ckt breaker had burned up. But it was the one between the tow vehicle and the RV. Landing gear and stuff would work on onboard battery, but some other things wouldn't. All those other things worked OK on shore power.

RV wiring is just plain strange.
