Tacoma, mouse problem
Dear Sirs,
I have a 1997 Tacoma that attracts mice. The truck is parked in the driveway next to the house. Somehow or other the mice are getting into the heater and AC ductwork. There is no body rot on the truck and I can"t find any openings in how they're getting in. I suspect since most of these vehicles have a flow through fresh air system when the vehicle is moving, there has to be a vent or vents somewhere to let the air in. I live rural, so setting traps is not practical.
If I knew where to put a screen or another suggestion would be a lifesaver. Thanks, JoeA

This may sound crazy to you guys but, I'd buy some scented "Bounce",or "Cling free" fabric softener sheets and stick them in the areas closest to duct work. I work at an RV resort, and the people who spread these sheets throughout their trailers/mobile homes, and close them up for 6 mos in the winter, don't have any mouse crap problems when they re-open in spring. If I hadn't seen it personally, I wouldn't believe it either. Leaves a nice smell, (not like mothballs) and they are cheap enough to buy.

I have a '06 Tacoma and it gets its air from up before the windshield and feeds it down thru a filter mounted behind the glovebox. Mine isn't exacxtly like yours but are you sure that the screen isn't missing on the cowl when you open your hood? I can't imagine any other way to get in there.

Get some peppermint oil (pure, NOT extract), place a few drops on a cotton ball and spread the cotton balls throughout the camper, under and inside benches, drawers, cupboards, etc... . This will also repel spiders and such, and smell good to boot. We live in an area of extremely high rodent problems- for every body else, we haven't seen a mouse or spider inside since we started doing this.
