Chevy Motor home will not start

I have a chevy motor home, it has been sitting in my shed for since july 2010. The gas smelled bad, I added fresh gas and it wants to fire but it will not. What do I need to do. Thanks

Did you drain the tank before putting the fresh in?

What you might have done is stir up crap on the bottom of the tank when you filled it. Possible clogged filter or pump pickup sock. Pump, maybe, too. Pressure check at the throttle body might be a good idea.

No, pouring diesel in the tank will not help.

I am getting fuel to the carb, it starts now and does not run good, and smells like varnish. I am going to change sparkplugs.

You never said what year it was, but you sain it had a carb,, If the fuel was rotton enough to "Smell Like Varsol"" you will likley need a carb overhaul ~ a kit to fix it properly,,,, Roger
