Question 1993 Ford Econoline Van: Acceleration hesitation until engine is warm.

Hi all, hoping I can get some pointers as to what might be the cause of this issue. (Or at least a few things to look for.)

I've got a 1993 Ford Econoline E-250 cargo van. V8.
I have no problems starting it up in the morning.
If I drive off right away, for about the first 10 to 15 minutes of driving, the engine hesitates when I accelerate from a stop (most noticeable from a stop sign or red light.)
Once the engine warms up completely, I have no further problems and it runs great.

Before I moved from Nevada to California about a month ago, I had a tune-up and oil change, including a new fuel filter, hoping that would fix it. Unfortunately, no.

It's not as bad as it was though...it used to actually stall out completely from a stop, now it just hesitates.

Any ideas for troubleshooting appreciated.

Even though the vehicle is old or older there are still many sensors
on it. In this case I would check the ECT. It is the Engine Coolant Temp sensor. It tells the computer to adjust the air/fuel ratios for a enriched mixture when the engine is cold. That would cause it to run
rough until it warms up.

Also if it stumbles, hesitates when its warm and it has fuel injection
then the throttle bores need cleaning.

Good luck

Thanks Larry!

Will check out the ECT. It never stumbles or hesitates when warm, just during warm up.
