Old but sealed motor oil

Does motor oil (5W-30) deteriorate over time if it's still in the original sealed 5-quart jugs? Stored in a garage subject to hot and cold weather in south FL. It's probably 5 years old.

If there's any doubt I'll toss it and spend the $17 for this oil change but it would be good to know if I'm wasting money.

I would use it. The temperature swings in your garage are nothing compared to what it sees inside an engine and sealed inside it's container nothing was able to get inside to contaminate it.

Just make sure it meets the engine oil requirements stated in your owners manual.

use it and watch it. ain't no cheese or honey to go bad. also, have never seen shelf life dates on them, like you have on milk.
