1997 Ford F150 AC Question

My AC recently started making a "chirping " noise. It seems to be coming from the compressor. When the compressor cycles on the noise starts. When it cycles off its quiet. Could this be the AC clutch? BTW, it blows cold air so itís tempting to go the ďif it ainít broke donít fix itĒ route.

Check belt condition and tension first. A "chirp" is quite often just belt. The added load of compressor can cause slight slip, thus chirping.

MikeB,

Thanks for the quick response. The belt, idler pulley and tensioner were replaced last year. I'll recheck though to see that one hasn't gone bad already.
