Air Conditionner for Ford E350

At work we have a 2001 Ford E350 diesel and we use it as a passenger van The thing is it gets way too hot in the summer and we need to install an additional AC system. I was thinking of a used Coleman Mach 13,500 BTU but I think it would be a bit overkill plus I would need to install a generator. Is there any small AC on the market that would be decent for what I need? Has to be lightweight, roof mount and preferably be able to run it on 12V

I have a 1999 E-350 diesel and I know exactly what you mean about the AC. It's miserable. Fantastic heat though.

Your choices are extremely limited. The only company I know of that has a decent, but pricey, unit is DC Airco. The link is following. Look at the rooftop truck units.

Cool They don't seem to have any prices listed The DC 9000 would be a good fit I wonder how much they go for? I'll send them an email. Other option would be a used Coleman Mach and a small generator I can get a 4K Watts for a good price used. Would 4000W generator be enough to feed a 13.500 BTU AC?

That 13,500 will draw approx 1500 watts. Would need approx 2000 to start.

Now my next question..... where would you put a 4K genny in the van

Because I can get it for next to nothing basically I have to take it out of another vehicle do a bit of fixing and put it in the E350 So as far as I have a generator that's above 2000W I should be fine? And I guess the 13.500 BTU uses a 15A circuit? I think that geny has 2 x15A circuits if I recall.

I'm not quite following you. You want to use the van as a passenger van. That part I've got.
If you have passengers in the van.....where will the genny be and who will get to sit on top of it.

There used to be a 6k inverter at the back, driver side. There's already an enclosure for either a geny or an inverter

Yes......21 amps to run the blower motor. That system requires you to tap into your existing AC system. Basically you would be installing tee's and freon lines from under the hood to the new blower unit. I'm not sure what that price covers since it's not very clear if that's a complete kit including freon lines as well as tee's and other needed fittings.

You would need to have a certified AC service center do the evacuation, connection and recharging of the freon lines.
