Jayco Norcold fridge self defrosted

"The temperature outside is coming into the refer vent and is telling the refer it is cold. For the fridge to work in cold temps you would need to run your furnace. The trailer fridge does not work like the fridge in your home and keep cooling in cold temps."

I get how that happened once b/4 when it defrosted on its own in October, but WHY could it have just happened last week in WI when low temps never went below 50 degrees?

Does it resume cooling or does it stay warm?

Welcome to the forums.

Your question is a little vague. A model number for your Norcold fridge would be a big help.

Most refrigerators are freon based and don't respond well to cold weather operation. Your fridge is ammonia based and can operate at a lower temperature.

I don't believe any of the Norcold units have defrost so it sounds more like you have a problem with yours. Just so that you are aware....no matter what mode you have the unit in....it requires 12v for control operation. When there's a problem that's where to start.

Norcold refridge model

The fridge did resume cooling. The camper is permanently parked and the fridge runs on campground electricity - which did not fail. It is a Norcold fridge but not sure if it is N61X or N81X?
