blower motor speed problem

I have a 1991 gmc sierra 1500. A/C/HEATER blow not working on high speed. I've replaced the resistor and the blower motor. Now I get high speed until I change speed or shut it off. By doing an un-plug re-plug at the resistor it will run on high every time until I again change speed or shut it off. maybe the controller or is there another resistor somewhere? I'm stumped, thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Any speed other than high.... is obtained thru the resistor block. On some vehicles high speed is directly from the dash switch right to the blower motor and on some vehicles there is a high speed relay. I think on your vehicle it's directly from the speed control on the dash to the motor side of the resistor block.

You may need to check for burned wiring at the resistor block or check for a burned speed switch.

Thank you that makes good sense. My speed control at the dash is a module controller, which I have had trouble with before and since replaced. The wiring looks good. Thanks again.
